Forrest Isn't Dead “The Flowers Tour” with support from Slow Funeral x Tayls (Greenville, SC)

Slow Funeral

Slow Funeral is the alias of South Carolina-based musician Mary Norris. She released her first single as Slow Funeral, “I Loved You In Another Life,” in November 2021. Shortly after, Norris put all of her energy into defining herself and her sound through abraded lyrical and musical vulnerability. Her alt-rock band is a marriage of her 90s influences, such as Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, The Cranberries, and Nirvana, paired with her Americana roots, such as Jason Isbell, Bruce Springsteen, and John Prine. Performing as a 4-piece, Slow Funeral’s live performances have been making early impact in the Southeast, having already shared the stage with acts like Slothrust, owen (Mike Kinsella of American Football), Chase Petra, Molly Martin, and more.

Slow Funeral also completed their first southeast tour in fall/winter of 2023. Norris is currently working with producer Corey Campbell on her debut album, Conditions of Trust, after being awarded community/project grants through Chapman Cultural Center, The Metropolitan Arts Council, and The South Carolina Arts Commission (release date TBD). The album covers Norris’s experiences growing up and living in poverty in the south, along with topics of abuse, patriarchy, heartbreak, and healing. The first single from the record, “Bugs,” was released on December 8th, 2023, followed by “Purple Roses,” released on April 5th, 2024.

their live show. The band draws inspiration from all over the playing
field including bands such as The Cure, Coheed & Cambria, Nine Inch
Nails, and Crosses.
The
release of their debut album “The End of Everything” on September 16th,

Tayls

The East Nashville Power Pop band Tayls transports listeners into a temporary dwelling of rock ‘n’ roll fantasy. Their dynamic pop-punk anthems and effervescent energy has captured hearts across Nashville, creating a multisensory experience while providing a feeling of belonging. The Nashville Scene describes the group as “stylistically omnivorous, pulling from a variety of disciplines from folk to glam, with a flair for grand gestures that nods to The Flaming Lips.” Beyond that, Tayls is a band about friendship. The group takes a kitchen-sink approach to live performance, with an ensemble cast of Nashville talent, and stage theatrics akin to Bowie or Queen. The band’s self-proclaimed genre, Friendship-Punk, combines a DIY ethos with a do-it-together spirit.
